So you think you can dance and do well in the VCE at the same time? Tommy Rollinson, 18, is proof that it’s worth holding on to your extracurricular passions. He kept up his ballroom and Latin dancing, represented Australia at the World Hip Hop Championships in Germany last September and still managed to get an ENTER of 98.90.

“Sometimes I’d train late at night, sometimes it was all afternoon. It depended on whether I had assignments, tests or SACs coming up.”

He considered auditioning for Channel 10’s So You Think You Can Dance? “But I was worried about the filming timings clashing with school and uni.”

Rollinson is studying physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne and didn’t want to defer.

“I’m considering doing a masters or doctorate project into how the brain controls movement. I hope I find some connection with dance.”∆
